It was decided that the occlusal load was too great for that type of GIC so subsequently it was laminated for strength. The glass-ionomer was cut back to a depth of about 2mm., the GIC and the surrounding tooth structure was etched, washed and dried. Note that the fissures remain sealed with glass-ionomer alone.
