Pit and Fissure – Extensive lesion

Description
This series follows an old amalgam restoration placed originally as a Site 1, Size 3 with a protective design over the split mesio-lingual cusp. Subsequently this cusp failed so the lesion became a Site 1, Size 4.

The completed cavity design including a protective bevel over the mesio-lingual cusp. Amalgam can now be built over that cusp to protect it from load.

The same restoration at approximately 12 years after placement. The mesio-lingual cusp has now failed and the lesion has become a Site 1, Size 4 .
