Figure 6 The final cavity is now complete. Note the retentive groove to the buccal under the cusp and the subsidiary ditch at the end of the buccal groove. There is still some softened demineralised dentine on the floor in the occlusal section of the cavity. Rather than remove all of this and risk an exposure it will be based with a GIC lining.
